Druk Path Trek
The Druk Path Trek in Bhutan is a spectacular journey through the heart of the kingdom’s majestic landscapes, offering trekkers an unforgettable adventure amidst pristine natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. This iconic trek traverses from Paro to Thimphu, the capital city, following ancient mountain trails that have been used for centuries by locals and traders alike. Along the way, trekkers are treated to breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, lush forests, alpine lakes, and traditional Bhutanese villages nestled amidst the mountains. The Druk Path Trek not only offers a physical challenge but also provides ample opportunities for cultural immersion, as hikers pass by remote monasteries, prayer flags, and encounter the warm hospitality of local communities.
Arrival at Paro International Airport. Transfer to hotel and check-in. Rest and acclimatization. Visit Paro town in the evening. Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 2: Paro Sightseeing
Visit Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, one of the most iconic landmarks in Bhutan. Explore Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan (Ta Dzong) to learn about Bhutanese culture and history. Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 3: Paro to Jele Dzong (Start of Trek)
Trek begins from Ta Dzong. Trek to Jele Dzong (Distance: 7 km, Duration: 3-4 hours). Enjoy the scenic views of Paro valley along the way. Camp overnight at Jele Dzong.
Day 4: Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha
Trek from Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha (Distance: 10 km, Duration: 4-5 hours). Trek through rhododendron forests and yak herder’s camps. Enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks. Camp overnight at Jangchulakha.
Day 5: Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso
Trek from Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso (Distance: 11 km, Duration: 4-5 hours). Trek through alpine meadows and pristine lakes. Explore Jimilangtso Lake and its surroundings. Camp overnight near Jimilangtso.
Day 6: Jimilangtso to Simkotra and Transfer to Thimphu
Trek from Jimilangtso to Simkotha Tsho (Distance: 11 km, Duration: 4-5 hours). Trek through juniper forests and yak herder’s camps. Arrive at Simkotha Tsho and conclude the trek. Transfer to Thimphu by road. Explore Thimphu in the evening. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 7: Thimphu Sightseeing and Departure
Visit the Tashichho Dzong, the main secretariat building which houses the throne room of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. Explore the National Memorial Chorten, a prominent landmark in Thimphu. Visit the Buddha Dordenma (Buddha Point) to admire the largest Buddha statue in Bhutan. Visit the traditional papermaking factory and other craft centres. Departure from Paro International Airport.
